Artist Statement

Growing up in the Western suburbs of Melbourne Aurora Gray loved to draw as a child. She began to take it more seriously in year 11 and 12 when she took VISCOM and Studio Arts subjects. She then went on to study a Bachelor of Creative Industries at Victoria University followed by a Diploma of Visual Arts-Illustration at Melbourne Polytechnic.

Aurora Gray is an emerging artist whose main mediums are oil paint, acrylic paint and digital media, however she likes to explore and experiment with different mediums. More recently she has been starting to work with clay. A reoccurring subject in her art is the female face and figure, though she draws male faces and tries to expand and study other subjects in her work.

She likes using oil paint because of the vibrant colours and how it blends together, creating smooth blends, which can be great when painting the skin. Her work is an expression of her personal journey and feelings. Aurora tries to incorporate different colours in her work but as her favorite colour is blue she tends to gravitate towards it and it can be seen throughout her works.
